TIP: How to stop Gmail POP3 Import

A while back for an unknown reason I decided to Import my work email via Gmail’s POP3 import feature to my personal Gmail account. After a while I decided I no longer wanted to receive my works emails to my personal account for several reasons.

I went into Gmail Settings > Account and Import > Check mail using POP3, and removed the entry for my works email. This however did not stop the emails I kept receiving the emails. Confused, I thought I might of setup forwarding in either outlook, or via my exchange web mail as well.

After searching, and checking for almost a week, I could not locate anywhere, in my work account any forwarding or filters of any type that would forward the emails. Confused, I decided to re-add my works email address, and try to remove it again, thinking somehow Gmail, did not receive the last call to stop the import. This did not work.

After a few more days of analyzing, and checking I decided I wanted to check once and for all if it was either Gmail, or My work account forwarding the emails, so I did a little test. This test eventually led to the solution, and discovery of this Gmail bug.

So what did I do to stop Gmail Import once and for all? Simple enough,… I changed my password to my work account email, sent myself a test email, and low and behold I was no longer getting emails from my work account in my personal Gmail account.

I hope Google fixes this issue soon, and I hope this helps you from pulling your hair out.
